Megan Holbrook was a volunteer for the Hilary Clinton campaign in 2016, and says the day after the presidential election that year was one of the most painful of her life. Not entirely sure what to do, she put together a Facebook group called “The Next Four Years,” invited about 300 of her friends and went to bed. She woke the next day to a mini movement. About 3,000 people had signed up to join her. The group serves as “a forum for people to share ways to get involved and influence our political process,” and isn’t just for liberals either, she says, suggesting that all parties have been effectively hijacked. Megan organized a group to attend the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., co-founded MKE Democratic Action and is part of the DNC Host Committee Leadership Council. Megan, a digital strategist with a fine arts degree from Harvard University and a master’s in nonprofit leadership from UWM, is also a champion of the arts. She lives with her husband, architect Eric Vogel, in a historic Eschweiler-designed house on Milwaukee’s east side. Megan has also served on several boards, including for the Friends of Villa Terrace and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. We asked Megan whether she might take her political work to the next level. Here’s some of what she had to say.
