Mia Moore is 14 and already passionate about transforming the justice system, especially for youth in Milwaukee. She talks about justice as something “to give” and work for, and ranks women’s rights and police brutality high on her list of things to work on as well. “Everyone should change something,” she told us. As the daughter of Reggie Moore, director of the Office of Violence Prevention for the City of Milwaukee, and Sharlen Moore, the director of Urban Underground (and a subject in this project), Mia learned about the value of youth-led social justice early. We talked to her in the days when Covid-19 was new and delivered a recorder to her doorstep. Mia is a freshman at Rufus King International High School.
